Shackled Genesis keeps each piece's seed in contract storage (SSTORE) and renders the work in the contract: tokenURI returns on-chain JSON whose image is an SVG data URI wrapping a bitmap that the on-chain 3D engine, in linked library contracts, rasterises pixel by pixel from that seed. Nothing is fetched from outside the chain. The call needs far more gas than public nodes allow, so it runs only on a node with the cap lifted.
