fiveoutofnine stores each token's board and move data in contract storage (SSTORE), and the renderer is built into the contract: _tokenURI() returns JSON metadata whose animation is a self-contained HTML page. The standard tokenURI() instead points at an off-chain server serving the same HTML plus a PNG preview.
